Overflowing Blessings

God’s blessings truly overflow
But you must do your part.
Just come to Him with empty hands
And He will fill your heart.
He cannot fill a heart that’s full
Of pride or vanity.
But humble hearts and empty hands
He’ll fill for you and me.
If we approach the throne of grace
With broken hearts held out,
He’ll take away the hurt and pain,
The fears and all the doubt.
He’ll fill us full of love so pure
And faith to see us through.
He’ll satisfy our deepest dreams.
Give peace to me and you.
So come to God with all your worst,
He’ll give you all His best.
Accept Him and you won’t believe
The ways that you’ll be blessed.

It might give me an idea of better ways to spread His words, which I am always looking to do. And of course, always keep the copyright symbol and my name with the poem so I continue to have the right to use them. You may not realize that if something is posted enough times without the copyright notice, I could lose the copyright and then someone else could conceivably file for a copyright and I would no longer be able to use my own poems! Change

This is an older poem, but seemed appropriate for now. I’ve had a lot of friends experience some major changes in their lives this year, from losing family members to losing houses, cancer diagnoses to miraculous healings. It just seems the right time to post this. May it minister to you if you’d experienced a major life change, welcome or not.

bible god quotes 363 God can restore what is broken and change it

CHANGE

You know change is the law of life.
You take it as it comes.
Sometimes it’s silent as a tomb
Or beating on the drums.
It may sneak up so silently
And catch you unawares,
Just like a mouse you never see
That’s hiding on the stairs.
Then suddenly you’ll realize
That something’s different, and
You know a change has happened though
You never felt its hand.
Then other times a change is like
A wall you’ve run into.
There’s no way to avoid it or
Its great effect on you.
It’s obvious and daunting and
You want to turn away.
You hope you can avoid it or
Come back to it someday.
You may not have time to prepare
Or gather your reserves
To face this change with all the strength
You know that it deserves.
Just do your best to face each day—
The bitter and the sweet—
And turn to God for help to face
Each challenge you may meet.

No Joke

No Joke

I heard a friend say something that
Just broke my heart in two.
She laughed and said, “I don’t think I
Am heaven bound, like you.
I think I’d rather go to hell.
It sounds like much more fun.
I’ll party there eternally
When life on earth is done.”
I tried to tell her not to joke;
That’s not how it will be
If she should find herself in hell
For all eternity.
It isn’t one big party and
You won’t be there with friends.
You’ll find it dark and lonely there;
The torment never ends.
Please think about your soul today;
Tomorrow may be lost.
If you are still estranged from God,
You’ll have to pay the cost.
This moment may be all you have;
Please use it wisely, friend.
I want to see you heaven-bound
When life on earth must end.

All Roads Lead to God

I want to thank Barry Atwell for the seed for this poem. I hope this does his idea justice.

All Roads Lead to God

“I don’t need Jesus,” some may claim.
“All roads will lead to God.
I’ll worship any way I choose,
Though you may call it odd.
My Buddhist and my Hindu friends
May take a different path,
But still find God without the need
For all this talk of wrath.”
I hate to say that they are right:
All roads do lead to God,
But if you choose to get to Him
By paths all bent and broad,
You’ll come before God’s great, white throne
To kneel on Judgment Day,
And there—too late!—profess the Truth:
Christ is the only Way.
Yes, Jesus is the only key
That opens heaven’s gate.
So please accept His sacrifice.
I beg you not to wait.

Heart Help

bible god quotes 550 May the God of hope fill you with all joy

Heart Help

The Holy Spirit in my heart
Gives guidance that I need.
He helps my love and faith to grow
Just like a tiny seed.
He guides my steps and steers my path;
He gives me words to say.
He will interpret my desires
And helps me when I pray.
The blessings of the Spirit are
Felt deep inside my heart.
He warms my soul, makes my heart soft,
Gives joy in every part.
I’m glad God’s Holy Spirit came
To live inside of me
To heal my pain, to guide my life,
And truly set me free.

The Trinity’s Blessings

File:Shield-Trinity-Scutum-Fidei-English.svg

The Trinity’s Blessings

I give God thanks and joyful praise
For His abundant love.
I thank Him for the joy He gives,
The hope from up above.
I thank the Holy Spirit for
The guidance that He gives.
I’m glad He intercedes for me
And in my heart, He lives.
I’m grateful to the Son of God
Who took my sins away.
My gratitude just overflows
To know He hears me pray.
I thank the Father for His gift
That made a way for me
To live in New Jerusalem,
And from this world be free.
God gives Himself in all three parts
To all His children here.
He loves us and He lets us know
That He is always near.

Better, Not Bitter

Let Your Past Make You Into A Better Person Not A Bitter One

Better, not Bitter

God says to love our enemies
And pray for those who hurt
And use us so despitefully
Or treat us just like dirt.
That’s not an easy thing to do
When feelings are so raw
And we feel like we want revenge
And breaths are hard to draw.
That’s when we must rely upon
The Holy Spirit’s aid
To just release the anger and
Make sure the pain gets laid
Once and for all at Jesus’ feet
And nailed to His rough cross.
You’ll find that all the peace you gain
Will far outweigh the loss.
You’ll lose the chance for your revenge,
But if you’ll sit and pray,
A peace you’ll never understand
Will fill your heart today.
Just pray for God to melt their hearts
And show a better path
And save them, as He has saved you,
From all His fearful wrath.

I’m Thankful

Thankful

I’m Thankful

I’m thankful for my family,
My friends and those I love.
I’m thankful for sweet birds that sing
And blue skies up above.
If I could list each blessing that
I’m truly thankful for,
I’d need a million sheets or so
And still there would be more.
Each day brings blessings, fresh and new,
From God, who showers me
With blessings, mercy and His grace
That I can’t always see.
Still, it is always waiting there
Just like some hidden prize.
And suddenly, His love shines through
And right before my eyes
I’ll see the proof, and feel it, too,
So warm inside my heart.
My Savior died to set me free.
I am His work of art.
So what I am most thankful for
Is Jesus cares enough
To be with me and hold me close
When life on earth gets rough.

God’s Grace

I’ve always found Jesus’ first miracle to be rather puzzling. Turning water to wine at a wedding? Seemed a bit insignificant to me for His premier miracle. Since I believe that there had to be some great significance to it, I kept searching and listening to sermons and podcasts. One said it was to show that Jesus had mastery over nature. Another said it was to show Jesus gives joy, since wine always represents joy in the Bible. One said it was to show He could save any situation or He could provide gifts. While no doubt these were part of it, they never seemed sufficient to me.

Sow What

I heard a short devotional on the radio where the man said, “If you don’t like what you are harvesting, maybe you should change seeds.” I really liekd that and the thought stuck with me all day. This poem came from that. Title kudos to my wonderful hubby.
