OK, this is strange. I posted this yesterday but it isn’t showing up…yet WordPress allowed me to copy it???????? If this is a dup, I apologize, but I’m not seeing it on the blog, so I am reposting.
I’m working on a project I’ve had in mind for some time. Not sure how far I’ll get, but I’ll post as I go along. Psalm 119 was originally written as an acrostic poem with each part starting with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet. I wanted to try to see how I could do writing each part starting with the english equivalents. I started with Aleph – A and managed to start every line with the letter A (see my previous post for that part). I’m posting the real portion of the Psalm first for comparison purposes. Here’s Bet/Beth – B.
BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.

Psalm 119 Bet/Beth (2nd letter – B)
By what shall young men cleanse the way?
By heeding Thy great word.
But I have sought Thee with my heart
By seeking, I have heard.
But let me not go far away
Bring Thy commandments near.
By hiding Thy word in my heart
Be finding no sin here.
Blessed art Thou, Sovereign Lord.
Be teacher to me now.
By lips, have I made judgments, true;
By all Thy ways, I vow.
Buy with riches nothing else
But testimonies true.
Both meditate in precepts and
Bring all respect to you

Feel free to print, share or repost anything on this blog. I do ask that you let me know if you use one of my poems on your blog or at your church somehow. It might give me an idea of better ways to spread His words, which I am always looking to do. And of course, always keep the copyright symbol and my name with the poem so I continue to have the right to use them. You may not realize that if something is posted enough times without the copyright notice, I could lose the copyright and then someone else could conceivably file for a copyright and I would no longer be able to use my own poems! It has happened, so please make sure the (c) is always on the poem whenever you repost. Thanks!
God bless,
Denise McKenney
This one reminds me that He is always listening to me–whether I realize it or not. Thanks for the beautiful words.
This is an interesting idea! Keep it up!
Thanks! I’ll try to keep it going. It’s in God’s hands, or lips. Sometimes it seems He’s whispering these right in my ear. Glad you are enjoying them. God bless.
