Our Genesis

We did a Bible study at our ladies’ discipleship breakfast that used the first chapter of Genesis to study how God works in us for our salvation. God gave me a poem to condense this. I pray you can gain something from this.

Our Genesis

The Holy Spirit works in us
As He did from the start:
He hovers near and then He puts
His light inside our heart.
He shows us there’s a solid place
Where we can put our feet,
A Rock that’s higher than ourselves,
A safe place to retreat.
He rains His living water down
To nourish our dry soul.
We’re even safe on angry seas
If we’ll give Him control.
He helps us mark the days and times
To follow in His will:
A time to work,  a time to play,
A time to just be still.
He plants such tiny seeds in us
And then He makes them grow.
He’s patient as we work and waits
To watch His beauty show.
At last, He breathes His life in us
And wakes us from the dead.
Then God looks down on all He’s done,
“And it is good!” He said.

Feel free to print, share or repost anything on this blog. I do ask that you let me know if you use one of my poems on your blog or at your church somehow. It might give me an idea of better ways to spread His words, which I am always looking to do. And of course, always keep the copyright symbol and my name with the poem so I continue to have the right to use them. You may not realize that if something is posted enough times without the copyright notice, I could lose the copyright and then someone else could conceivably file for a copyright and I would no longer be able to use my own poems! It has happened, so please make sure the (c) is always on the poem whenever you repost. Thanks!

God bless,
Denise McKenney

This is a beautiful poem for this Lenten season, too. I love it!
