This isn’t my typical post, as it’s not a rhyming poem, but it’s appropriate for Thanksgiving. I went through the alphabet finding one thing for each letter that I was grateful to God for giving me. Now, I could have listed many more for some of the letters, but I restricted myself to one each. This is what I came up with. I may rework it into a rhyming poem later. I wanted to go ahead and post what I had done for Thanksgiving, so here it is. I hope it inspires you. And I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving!
ABC’s of Thanksgiving
Lord, I Thank You For:
Angels You send to fight our spiritual battles
Blessings beyond measure
Calvary’s cross, where my sin was washed away
Deliverance from evil
Everlasting life spent with You
Forgiveness gained from Jesus’ blood
Grace given so freely
Holy Spirit that lives in us and interprets our prayers
Israel, Your chosen people, by whom all nations are blessed
Justice tempered with grace as only You can deliver
Kindness You show us that we don’t deserve
Love You pour into our hearts until it overflows onto others
Miracles, big and small, that You perform daily
Nativity scenes that remind us that You came to us as a baby
Opportunities to share Your Gospel with others
Prayers that are always heard and saved
Questions that we can bring to You for answers
Rest that only You can give that goes beyond sleep
Salvation given by Jesus’ sacrifice
Truth that never changes or fails
Understanding high priest Who knows how we feel
Victory over the enemy
Worship time filled with Your praises that will never end
X-ray “plus” vision God has to see our deepest hearts
Your yoke, which is easy and Your burden, which is light
Zion, Your holy mountain

Feel free to print, share or repost anything on this blog. I do ask that you let me know if you use one of my poems on your blog or at your church somehow. It might give me an idea of better ways to spread His words, which I am always looking to do. And of course, always keep the copyright symbol and my name with the poem so I continue to have the right to use them. You may not realize that if something is posted enough times without the copyright notice, I could lose the copyright and then someone else could conceivably file for a copyright and I would no longer be able to use my own poems! It has happened, so please make sure the (c) is always on the poem whenever you repost. Thanks!
God bless,
Denise McKenney
