My Abundant Life

My blessedness is not due to
My circumstance or gift.
I do not need an easy life
To give my heart a lift.
I don’t need perfect health to have
Abundant life down here
I simply need to know God’s love
And know, to Him, I’m dear.
In poverty or pain or loss
I still can find such joy.
For God has given me great gifts
That nothing can destroy.
When pain or sorrow try to take
The joy inside my heart,
I turn my eyes to Jesus and
I know we’ll never part.
With God’s Word in my life, I know
That I have all I need.
To live a joy-filled life on earth.
For by the Son, I’m freed.
