Perfect Weakness

2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

Perfect Weakness

I asked the Lord to take this thorn,
Remove it from my flesh.
He said, “My grace is good enough.
Each morning, it is fresh.
My strength made perfect is displayed
In weakness that you bear,
Allow my strength to carry you
And all your burdens share.”
Most gladly, then, you’ll hear me boast
In my infirmity,
That Christ and all His glorious power
May firmly rest on me.
For though I may not understand
The reason for my pain,
I know whatever God allows
Is for His kingdom’s gain.
So I will boast and glory in
My pain and weaknesses
For in the midst of all this pain,
I know my Savior is.

When I Hurt

When I Hurt

Sometimes I feel such pain and fear
I beg You for relief.
I feel I bear a burden that
Is far beyond belief.
Sometimes I wonder if You’ll heal
My aching body’s pain.
For I can’t seem to do Your work
While pain and weakness reign.
I read Your Word, Your promises
To heal me by Your stripes.
And when the healing doesn’t come
I give complaints and gripes.
But Lord, please help me trust in You
And know that You know best,
And even in my hardest pain
Please help me to feel blessed.
Your thoughts are not the thoughts of men;
Your ways are not our ways.
Remind me of Your blessings as
I hobble through my days.
Please  keep my eyes off of myself
And always on Your Son.
No matter how I feel, I’ll say,
“My Lord,  Thy will be done.”

Little Things Matter

Little Things Matter

Whatever you do for the Lord
Cannot be called in vain.
If it is done with faithful heart,
Its purpose will remain.
When you get to the bema seat
You’ll likely feel surprise
By what God singles out for praise,
What’s worthy in His eyes.
The time spent all alone in prayer
And time with lonely souls,
Put patches over broken hearts
And filled such painful holes.
The children you read stories to,
The friends with awful pain
Who cried upon your shoulder as
Their dreams went down the drain,
Those hours spent to clean the church,
The cookies that you made,
The money given to the poor
Will more than be repaid.
“What you do for the least of these,
So you have done for Me.”
This is what Jesus did proclaim,
And all things, He does see.
So don’t feel unimportant for
The “little” things you do,
For God can see the loving heart
Inside, that’s driving you.

Poem on the Peak

Poetic take on the Sermon on the Mount. At least, the Beatitudes.

Poem on the Peak

The poor in spirit, surely blessed,
Shall see the kingdom come.
The mourners shall be comforted.
The meek shall not be glum,
For they inherit earth, itself.
The hungry shall be filled.
The ones who thirst for righteousness
Have done just what God willed.
So blessed are the merciful,
For mercy they’ll obtain.
And blessed are the pure in heart
For they shall see God’s reign.
The one who’s known for making peace
Wherever he may go,
Shall be known as a child of God,
From Whom all blessings flow.
Ye shall be blessed when men revile
And persecute you now
For righteousness and  Jesus’ sake.
Rejoice and smooth your brow.
For great rewards will wait for you
With prophets at the throne.
Look forward to the time when He
Will claim you as His own.
These things I know to be the truth
For so my Lord has told.
So share this Truth with everyone.
‘Til we’re called home, be bold!

Remember Your Faith

I’m sorry it’s been so long since I last posted. Life has been crazy and I really haven’t been able to sit and listen to the Lord for awhile amongst my own thoughts. A young couple at our church is facing scary times right now, and I asked God to give me words to comfort them. I pray these words comfort others, too.

Remember Your Faith

Some mysteries belong to God;
His ways are not our own.
And though we may not understand,
Our faith & trust are grown.
We sometimes suffer pain & loss;
We sometimes know great fear.
But even in the darkest times,
We know that God is near.
He promises to hold us up,
Give strength & comfort,  too.
He will provide our every need,
With love to see us through.
As Peter walking on the waves,
We need to keep our eyes
Steadfastly on our Savior and
Away from stormy skies.
When pain and fear control our world,
We must turn to the Son.
We need to trust in Him and say,
“My Lord, Thy will be done.”

Gratitude

Gratitude

Thank You for the food You give
Abundantly, so we can live.
Thank You for the morning light
And rest when we lie down at night.
Thank You, Lord, for all Your gifts
And for the burdens that You lift.
Thank You for the moon’s soft light
And for the stars that shine at night.
Thanks for water for my thirst
And all my pains You’ve sweetly nursed.
I thank You, God, for all You’ve done,
But mostly Thank You for Your Son.

My Psalm of Praise

My Psalm of Praise

I praise Your Name. I sing to You
Of all my love and joy.
I’m grateful that Your love for me
Nobody can destroy.
Not height, nor depth nor anything
In this world or beyond
Can separate me from Your love
Nor break that holy bond.
Your love is stronger than the whiles
Of demons or of man.
Though many try to turn my heart,
I know that no one can.
I thank You, Lord, for Your great love
That saved me from my sin,
And for Your Son, whose sacrifice
Let my soul enter in
To a relationship with You
For all eternity.
There isn’t time enough to tell
All You have done for me.

Faithful

Faithful

Oh Lord, You are the faithful One
I know I can turn to.
When life is rough and waters rise
I always turn to You.
You never will abandon me
No matter what I’ve done.
You love me so, you sacrificed
Your one and only Son.
No matter how alone I feel
I know that You are here
To give me strength to carry on
Just knowing You are near.
I thank You, Lord, for all You’ve done
And praise Your holy name.
I just cannot contain my love
For You inside this frame.
You know my heart and fill it full
Of trust and faith and love.
I’m grateful that You care for me
And watch me from above.

My Psalm

My Psalm

My Lord, please tell me where You are.
Your Word says You are near,
But though I search, I cannot find
The proof that You are here.
I find it difficult to pray.
I seem to talk to air.
I read Your Word and do believe
When it says You are there.
Though I believe, I cannot see
Or feel You by my side.
I feel alone and that my life
Is just some pointless ride.
It’s leading nowhere (so it seems);
I don’t know where to turn.
My heart is heavy and my eyes
Are filled with tears that burn.
Please don’t abandon me, oh God.
Without You, I am lost.
I’m like a ship upon the waves,
So helpless, tempest-tossed.
I’ll turn again, as in times past,
To memories of You
And what You’ve done for me before
Until You’re back in view.
I know that if I read Your Word
And do not fail to pray,
I’ll once more see You in my life
And You’ll show me the way.

My Shepherd

My Shepherd

The Lord is Shepherd of this lamb
He will not let me roam
Into temptations but will lead
Me safely, surely home.
He watches over all His flock,
Each weak and helpless lamb.
He will not lose me for He knows
Exactly where I am.
He guards each sheep with special care
Like each one is a prize.
I feel so safe just knowing I
Am precious in His eyes.
I have no need to ever fear,
No matter what I’ve done,
For I’m a gift from Father God
Unto His firstborn Son.
And Jesus treasures each of us
Because we are His own.
So I have strength to carry on.
I know I’m not alone.
