Remember Your Faith

I’m sorry it’s been so long since I last posted. Life has been crazy and I really haven’t been able to sit and listen to the Lord for awhile amongst my own thoughts. A young couple at our church is facing scary times right now, and I asked God to give me words to comfort them. I pray these words comfort others, too.

Remember Your Faith

Some mysteries belong to God;
His ways are not our own.
And though we may not understand,
Our faith & trust are grown.
We sometimes suffer pain & loss;
We sometimes know great fear.
But even in the darkest times,
We know that God is near.
He promises to hold us up,
Give strength & comfort,  too.
He will provide our every need,
With love to see us through.
As Peter walking on the waves,
We need to keep our eyes
Steadfastly on our Savior and
Away from stormy skies.
When pain and fear control our world,
We must turn to the Son.
We need to trust in Him and say,
“My Lord, Thy will be done.”

Feel free to print, share or repost anything on this blog. I do ask that you let me know if you use one of my poems on your blog or at your church somehow. It might give me an idea of better ways to spread His words, which I am always looking to do. And of course, always keep the copyright symbol and my name with the poem so I continue to have the right to use them. You may not realize that if something is posted enough times without the copyright notice, I could lose the copyright and then someone else could conceivably file for a copyright and I would no longer be able to use my own poems! It has happened, so please make sure the (c) is always on the poem whenever you repost. Thanks!

Gratitude

Gratitude

Thank You for the food You give
Abundantly, so we can live.
Thank You for the morning light
And rest when we lie down at night.
Thank You, Lord, for all Your gifts
And for the burdens that You lift.
Thank You for the moon’s soft light
And for the stars that shine at night.
Thanks for water for my thirst
And all my pains You’ve sweetly nursed.
I thank You, God, for all You’ve done,
But mostly Thank You for Your Son.

My Psalm of Praise

My Psalm of Praise

I praise Your Name. I sing to You
Of all my love and joy.
I’m grateful that Your love for me
Nobody can destroy.
Not height, nor depth nor anything
In this world or beyond
Can separate me from Your love
Nor break that holy bond.
Your love is stronger than the whiles
Of demons or of man.
Though many try to turn my heart,
I know that no one can.
I thank You, Lord, for Your great love
That saved me from my sin,
And for Your Son, whose sacrifice
Let my soul enter in
To a relationship with You
For all eternity.
There isn’t time enough to tell
All You have done for me.

Faithful

Faithful

Oh Lord, You are the faithful One
I know I can turn to.
When life is rough and waters rise
I always turn to You.
You never will abandon me
No matter what I’ve done.
You love me so, you sacrificed
Your one and only Son.
No matter how alone I feel
I know that You are here
To give me strength to carry on
Just knowing You are near.
I thank You, Lord, for all You’ve done
And praise Your holy name.
I just cannot contain my love
For You inside this frame.
You know my heart and fill it full
Of trust and faith and love.
I’m grateful that You care for me
And watch me from above.

My Psalm

My Psalm

My Lord, please tell me where You are.
Your Word says You are near,
But though I search, I cannot find
The proof that You are here.
I find it difficult to pray.
I seem to talk to air.
I read Your Word and do believe
When it says You are there.
Though I believe, I cannot see
Or feel You by my side.
I feel alone and that my life
Is just some pointless ride.
It’s leading nowhere (so it seems);
I don’t know where to turn.
My heart is heavy and my eyes
Are filled with tears that burn.
Please don’t abandon me, oh God.
Without You, I am lost.
I’m like a ship upon the waves,
So helpless, tempest-tossed.
I’ll turn again, as in times past,
To memories of You
And what You’ve done for me before
Until You’re back in view.
I know that if I read Your Word
And do not fail to pray,
I’ll once more see You in my life
And You’ll show me the way.

My Shepherd

My Shepherd

The Lord is Shepherd of this lamb
He will not let me roam
Into temptations but will lead
Me safely, surely home.
He watches over all His flock,
Each weak and helpless lamb.
He will not lose me for He knows
Exactly where I am.
He guards each sheep with special care
Like each one is a prize.
I feel so safe just knowing I
Am precious in His eyes.
I have no need to ever fear,
No matter what I’ve done,
For I’m a gift from Father God
Unto His firstborn Son.
And Jesus treasures each of us
Because we are His own.
So I have strength to carry on.
I know I’m not alone.

One Year

Today marks the first anniversary of my mom’s death.

One Year

A year’s gone by. I miss you so.
I don’t know why you had to go.
God took you up to be with Him
And now my eyes, with tears, are dim.
Oh, not for you. You’re happy now.
There’s no more care upon your brow.
I cry because I miss you, Mom.
My heart finds little peace or calm
Amid the storms that buffet me.
Still I am glad that you are free.
Please help me, Jesus, carry on
Now that my precious mom is gone.
You’ve taken her away from us.
She went with You without a fuss.
I need strength from the only One
Who helps me say, “Thy will be done.”

I AM

This is a poem God gave me to write during the ladies’ conference at our church last weekend.

I AM

I Am the God of Abraham
Of Isaac, Jacob, too.
And if you let me in your heart
And be the God of you,
You’ll see I am the God of those
Who live, not of the dead.
I’ll give you life, and water and
My own life-giving bread.
I Am the God of all who live,
So if you want to live
Make Me your God and take the gifts
I truly want to give.
I wait for you to simply ask
And follow in My ways.
Then I’ll give you abundant life
To fill your empty days.

Crossing The Jordan

We had a ladies’ conference at our church with the theme, Crossing the Jordan. I was asked to write a poem for a bookmark. The first poem God gave me was too large for a bookmark, so I did another, so this is a twofer!

Crossing the Jordan

The word came down, “Go, worship God.”
So they left Egypt’s lands.
They didn’t trust in their God’s strength;
They wandered in the sands.
He gave them water, manna too,
But still they had such doubt.
Would He provide for all their needs?
What was this trip about?
The journey wasn’t just to get
His people free from bonds
But also to free them from fear
Beneath the palm tree fronds.
They sinned at Sinai, angered God,
He showed them how to fear
His righteous anger and bow down
To Him; He made it clear:
No idols could they worship,
He alone would be their God.
Another god or idol was
A useless, wicked fraud.
But if they’d come to Him alone
And keep His laws each day
And only to the Sovereign Lord
Would they bow down and pray,
He’d usher them into a land
So filled with wealth and peace
That life would hold abundant joy;
His blessings would not cease.
But they (like we) forgot their Lord
And did as they thought right.
Too often to this day we still
Forget to see His light.
We can today, have all these gifts:
He will abundance give,
If we will put Him center and
For Him alone will live.
So stop your foolish wandering.
Fear God and pray each day.
And enter in the Promised Land.
Our God will lead the way.

And here’s the bookmark. It isn’t a rhyming poem, just 3 sentences where the first letter of each word spells out Crossing The Jordan.

Crossing The Jordan

Christ’s
Righteousness
Overcomes
Sin’s
Slavery
Inviting
New
Grace.

Trust
Him
Eternally.

Jesus,
Our
Rock,
Dependable
Always
Near.

Psalm 23

Psalm 23

My Shepherd is the Lord on high.
With Him, no want I know.
He leads me by still waters, and
Green pastures will He show.
He leads me on in righteousness;
I tread for His name’s sake.
Through death’s dark valley, I must go.
This journey, I must take.
Still, I will fear no evil for
I know that You are near.
Your rod and staff, they comfort me.
I feel Your presence here.
You set a table with my foes,
With oil, anoint my head,
My cup of joy just overflows.
My heart will feel no dread.
Your goodness and Your mercy will
Be with me all my days.
I know I’ll dwell in my Lord’s house.
Forever hear my praise.
